Yoga Day celebrations in Karnataka looked quite energetic this year,and honestly,it is nice to see this not being treated like just one more official event . On June 21,2026,the 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated with strong participation,especially in Kalaburagi and Bidar .
In Kalaburagi,district-level programme happened at Chandrashekhar Patil Stadium . It was organised by local bodies including district administration and Zilla Panchayat,and theme this year was "Yoga for Healthy Ageing" . Simple theme,but actually very relevant considering how lifestyle issues are catching people early now.
Deputy Commissioner Ikram Shariff made one point which felt very practical . He urged people to include yoga in daily routine instead of doing it only on International Yoga Day . And coming from someone who has practiced yoga for seven years,it did not sound like usual speech only.
Mr. Shariff also shared that adding Surya Namaskar to his daily routine helped him handle work-related stress better . He spoke about yoga building mental strength,self-confidence,patience and positive thinking . In today's speed and pressure,this is not small thing ah.
Police Commissioner Sharanappa S.D. also said even 30-45 minutes of daily yoga can bring real improvement in overall health . And tbh,that sounds more doable than people imagine,because not everyone can give hours,but half hour daily is possible if mindset is there .
Few things stood out from celebrations:
- Mass participation exceeded 1,000,including officials,students and yoga practitioners.
- Yoga etiquette booklet was released to promote proper practices among participants.
- Historic venue in Bidar Fort gave scenic backdrop for yoga exercises and meditation.
In Bidar,celebrations happened inside historic Bidar Fort,where hundreds joined yoga and meditation sessions . Local MLA Shailendra Beldale said he felt proud that yoga,with roots in India,has now become globally recognised . He also pointed out how technology-heavy modern life makes daily yoga more needed for physical fitness and mental clarity .
Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Sharma also stressed regular yoga practice,saying it improves energy levels and enthusiasm in daily duties . She reminded people that despite ancient origins,yoga has not always got attention it deserves . And maybe that is real question now,whether people will carry this beyond one morning event or again wait till next June 21…
