Key Takeaways

  • MEA calls for global action against terrorism
  • Ajit Doval stresses no double standards in fight
  • Reforms needed in global security structures

This MEA statement on terrorism feels very direct, and honestly,it is not hard to see why India is saying this again and again . Cross-border terrorism is not some new issue for India, and every time global forums talk about security, this same uncomfortable point comes back .

During media briefing in New Delhi,MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made it clear that countries backing terrorism cannot just be allowed to hide behind diplomatic language . His exact words were,"We must call out countries who are supportive of terrorism and who are promoting cross-border terrorism from their territories."

And that line is sharp because it is not talking in circles . It is basically saying if any nation is allowing terrorism from its soil, then world should name it,not quietly adjust around it .

This also came while National Security Advisor Ajit Doval 's ongoing visit to Moscow is in focus . At first International Security Forum,Ajit Doval spoke about need for responsible nations to look at their own positions on terrorism, and also pushed point that there cannot be double standards in fighting terror.

Few things standing out clearly here:

  • MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said,"We must call out countries who are supportive of terrorism and who are promoting cross-border terrorism from their territories."
  • Ajit Doval at first International Security Forum stressed unity against terrorism without any double standards .
  • P Harish warned Pakistan and said,"Pakistan must credibly and irrevocably end its support for all forms of terrorism,"

But Doval did not stop at terrorism only . He also spoke about urgent reforms in global security structures established post-World War II,especially because current systems are not really enough for threats countries are facing today . His point about greater representation of Global South also matters,as many countries feel old power structures still dominate global decisions.

And then there is West Asia angle . Doval highlighted safe and uninterrupted trade through international waterways, especially Strait of Hormuz . That is not small thing ah,because trade routes and regional stability are directly linked to India's own security and economic interests.

At United Nations also,India's Permanent Representative to United Nations,P Harish, kept same tough line . He warned Pakistan about consequences of supporting cross-border terrorism and said India has right to defend itself against such threats.

What makes this whole thing more tense is Pakistan trying to deflect attention during discussions at UN Security Council . India is clearly not accepting that framing anymore, and wants accountability to be central part of conversation .

And maybe that is where real question sits now… will global community actually call out countries supporting terrorism,or will everyone keep using safe words while same problem continues…
