On June 21,2026,IIM Ranchi commemorated 12th International Day of Yoga with students, faculty and staff joining in good numbers .
Theme this year was ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ and that itself says a lot . Because yoga is not just about stretching for one day and taking photos,no,it is also about physical health, mental clarity and overall well-being over long time .
Celebration started at 6:30 AM with live yoga session led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi . That kind of beginning obviously set motivational tone for day,and after that participants continued with yoga practice at IIM Ranchi campus .
Session was conducted by Dr. Vishwajit Verma,Assistant Professor at Sarala Birla University, along with Pradeep Kumar,a student from Ranchi University . They guided everyone through different yoga asanas and explained why each posture matters for flexibility, strength and mental health.
Few things standing out clearly from event:
- Theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ focused on longevity and well-being.
- Dr. Vishwajit Verma and Pradeep Kumar guided participants through various asanas.
- Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava encouraged everyone to include yoga in daily routine .
And tbh, this daily routine point is most important part only . Doing yoga on International Day of Yoga is nice, but real benefit comes when people actually continue it after event is over.
Dr. Anjesh Kumar from Vivekananda Kendra also shared insights on how yoga builds discipline and improves concentration . In student life especially, this is not small thing ah,because stress, screen time and pressure are already too much.
At end of session,Prof. Srivastava appreciated trainers and guests for their contribution . He also said making yoga part of daily life can improve personal health and help in balanced lifestyle.
The event also saw presence of Prof. Jyoti Verma,Chairperson of Student Engagement and Development Committee, and other members of IIM Ranchi community . Their participation made campus atmosphere more active and connected around same idea .
But bigger question is still there… after June 21 is over, how many people will actually wake up next morning and continue yoga without needing event or reminder…
