Naresh Chauhan, the Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, has openly challenged what Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) is claiming about recent local body and panchayat elections.
He basically said BJP is making exaggerated and misleading claims, and trying to show victory through media narratives while ground situation is different . And honestly, this is very common after local elections also, each side wants to control story before full political mood becomes clear.
According to Chauhan, feedback collected by Congress shows many candidates supported by party have won . He also said Congress is expecting similar success in upcoming Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad elections because voter sentiment across Himachal Pradesh seems to be favouring their candidates.
And this is where political messaging becomes interesting . Congress is saying its grassroots initiatives have connected with people, while BJP narrative is being called false by Chauhan . So now it is not just about who won how many seats, but who can convince public that momentum is on their side.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Naresh Chauhan called BJP's claims exaggerated and misleading .
- Congress says many party-supported candidates have achieved victory .
- Congress expects similar success in Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad elections.
But Chauhan did not stop at elections only . He also spoke about tourism sector recovery in Himachal Pradesh, especially after natural disaster setbacks in 2023 and 2025 . He said visitor numbers are increasing again in popular destinations, and that is not small thing ah for state economy .
Kangra has also been officially recognized as tourism capital of Himachal Pradesh . State government has started projects to improve its appeal, and at same time,Home Stay Policy reforms have been introduced to support self-employment for youth and rural residents.
Chauhan also pointed toward bigger tourism push, with government wanting tourism to become main driver of state economy . Projects supported by Asian Development Bank are being linked with attracting high-end tourists and creating income for local communities.
Then there is expansion of Kangra airport and development of helipads across state, which are clearly aimed at making travel easier for visitors . Good plan on paper, but in hills, execution, environment concerns and local benefit all matter together.
So on one side,Congress is challenging BJP's election narrative, and on other side,it is trying to show governance through tourism push . But whether people see this as real change or just political messaging before next contests… that question is still hanging…
