As NEET-Undergraduate re-examination comes closer on June 21 ,Tamil Nadu government has started offering telecounselling support for students and families.
And this is actually needed ah . Exam stress is not just “study more and calm down” type thing, especially when it is NEET and future feels stuck on one paper only.
Officials have kept helplines open for students and parents who need guidance or just some reassurance . Students can call 14416 for TeleMANAS and 104 for State health helpline.
According to press release from Health Secretary, this support is part of ongoing initiative called “Natpudan Ungalodu” ,which means “We are with you.” And honestly, that line sounds simple, but during exam panic even hearing someone say that can help little bit .
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Telecounselling is available for students through dedicated helplines .
- Trained counsellors and psychiatrists will be on call .
- Main focus is reducing exam-related stress and mental health pressure .
The idea is to give students safe space to talk about what they are feeling . Not every student can explain anxiety properly at home, and not every parent understands how heavy exam fear becomes at this stage .
And tbh, parents also need support in these situations . Sometimes family pressure comes from fear only, but student receives it like burden . If helplines can guide both sides, maybe few conversations at home can become less harsh.
These services are meant for exam anxiety as well as general mental health concerns, with experienced counsellors and psychiatrists handling calls . As June 21 comes near, students and parents are being encouraged to use these numbers instead of silently carrying everything.
But bigger question is still there… why do our students reach such breaking point before every major exam in first place…
