Nirmal Kumar Surana, the BJP in-charge for Puducherry, met Chief Minister N. Rangasamy at his residence, and this was clearly not just courtesy visit.
Main discussion was around distribution of ministerial portfolios within current administration . BJP has two ministerial positions in National Democratic Alliance government, while AINRC holds three . So naturally, who gets what department becomes big question .
And honestly, coalition politics looks simple from outside only . Inside,it is always about balance, respect and making sure one side does not feel ignored.
During meeting, leaders also discussed upcoming elections for Speaker and Deputy Speaker positions in assembly . This part is interesting because BJP had Speaker's position in last government, while AINRC was responsible for Deputy Speaker role.
So if same formula continues or changes, this will say lot about comfort level between both parties rn . These things may look like routine posts, but in politics, they carry weight ah.
Few things standing out from this meeting:
- Portfolio distribution discussed, with key ministerial roles to be allocated.
- Speaker and Deputy Speaker elections were also part of discussion.
- BJP and AINRC collaboration is being planned for governance .
But at same time, this meeting also shows BJP and AINRC are trying to keep united front in Puducherry . Both parties know coalition setup needs regular talking, otherwise small misunderstandings can become bigger problems very fast.
There was also focus on strategic planning for administration and smooth governance . Puducherry has its own local issues and public expectations,so both sides will need to show that alliance is not just about posts, but also about handling people's concerns.
And still, real test will come when portfolios are finally shared and Speaker,Deputy Speaker elections move closer . Because meetings sound calm, but actual power-sharing is where politics starts showing its real face…
