On June 22,2026 ,healthcare workers under Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam scheme submitted petition to district administration,asking for better pay and timely wages .
These are not people sitting idle ah. There are 323 workers involved in door-to-door health screenings and basic medical services,going directly to beneficiaries and doing field work regularly . Since scheme started,their work has reportedly expanded a lot .
But payment side seems to be stuck in old thinking only. Workers said their monthly remuneration was first ₹3,500 ,then after multiple protests it was increased to ₹5,500 . Even that revised amount,they allege,is not coming on time consistently.
And tbh,₹5,500 with field visits,travel and daily responsibilities is not some comfortable amount . If salary itself gets delayed,how are workers supposed to manage home expenses,travel costs and regular life?
Few things standing out clearly here:

And this is where situation becomes bigger than one district only. Public health schemes often run on field workers who do most direct contact work,but when payment is irregular,whole system quietly puts pressure on same people.
Workers are asking government to increase monthly remuneration to ₹15,000 and make sure salaries are paid on time . That demand does not sound random when you look at duties,travel and cost of living today.
But whether administration will treat this as serious workforce issue or just another petition lying in file… that is real question now…
