So Delhi High Court has actually confirmed temporary ban on Telegram during NEET UG 2026 exam period . And honestly,this is a pretty big move.
Telegram itself had challenged the ban,but the court didn't agree with them . The ruling came on June 19,2026,and it basically said the government did what it had to do in emergency situation.
According to the live law report,the court's exact words were,"After considering all arguments,we found that given the emergency nature of impugned orders, Respondent strictly followed the procedure." So yes,all rules were followed apparently.
And tbh,the whole reason for this is pretty clear . It’s all about stopping cheating and paper leaks during these super important exams. NEET is not small thing ah,it decides future for so many medical students.
Telegram also argued that government never properly communicated reasons for ban . But the court shut that down too,saying,"The challenge of impugned orders on ground of non-communication reasons can't be sustained." Basically,that argument didn't work.

- The government's emergency measures were seen as necessary to protect exam integrity.
- It’s a classic case of balancing digital freedom with need for rules in education.
And this is where it gets interesting for me . Banning an entire app,even temporarily,is a huge step. It shows how serious the problem of exam malpractice has become. government is clearly trying to send a strong message .
This whole thing is about making sure NEET exam is fair and that students get in based on their hard work only,not because someone leaked a paper on some messaging app.
But you have to wonder if this is the right solution . Will it actually stop the problem,or will people just find another app to use? It feels like treating a symptom,not main disease…
Banning one platform feels like a temporary fix . The real problem of cheating and leaks is so much deeper,and I don't know if this one move can solve everything… just makes you think.
