On May 29,2026 ,the Calcutta High Court granted him interim protection from coercive police action . Basically, this means police cannot take immediate harsh action against him for now,but case has not gone away.
FIR was lodged at Gariahat Police Station over his alleged inflammatory social media remarks after 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections . Complaint came from advocate Joydeep Sen,and actress Swastika Mukherjee was also named for allegedly endorsing Chatterjee's comments .
And honestly, this is where story becomes more sensitive, because anything linked to post-poll violence in West Bengal still carries heavy political emotion . One social media remark can become legal issue very fast, especially when politics is already heated.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Calcutta High Court gave Parambrata Chatterjee interim protection from coercive police action.
- Police investigation will continue,as Justice Mukherjee said inquiry must not be interrupted.
- Video statement controversy has grown after his remarks about political pressures went viral.
Chatterjee did not go for police questioning and instead moved court for legal protection . Some people may see this as smart legal step, others may ask why he avoided questioning first . That is exactly why public reaction is split rn .
In recent public appearance,he said,"That day,I did everything by looking at the face of my newborn child and gritting my teeth. There was no other way. I did not come here to take personal revenge against anyone."
That line has now created its own storm only . Some are reading it as personal explanation under pressure, while others are accusing him of political opportunism . Once celebrity name enters political controversy, public image gets dragged into every discussion .
For now,he has relief from immediate police action, but he still has to cooperate with investigation . And question is whether this case stays legal matter,or slowly turns into bigger public image fight for Parambrata Chatterjee…
