Big political signal has come from Himachal Pradesh now, where Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is calling Municipal Corporation election results a big win . And honestly,59% success rate in local body polls is not small thing ah,especially when fight is ward-to-ward.
National Vice-President Saudan Singh announced that BJP won 37 out of 63 wards across four Municipal Corporations . He thanked citizens of Himachal Pradesh, party leadership and workers, saying result shows public support for BJP's development and governance pitch .
And numbers from Mandi,Dharamsala and Solan are clearly being pushed as main highlight . Singh said BJP got absolute majority in Municipal Corporations of Mandi,Dharamsala, and Solan, which gives party lot of confidence at local level .
In Mandi Municipal Corporation,BJP won 12 of the 14 seats, which comes to 86% success rate . In Dharamsala, party won 11 out of 17 seats, and in Solan,it captured 10 of 17 seats . These are not tiny margins,so BJP will obviously read this as strong local support.
Singh also said,"This victory reflects voice of the people of Himachal Pradesh who have chosen politics of development and good governance."
Few things BJP is highlighting from these results:
- BJP achieved success in 37 out of 63 wards in municipal elections.
- BJP-backed candidates secured around 74% of village head posts in panchayat elections.
- Voters endorsed BJP's pro-poor schemes and governance,according to party claim .
And tbh, this is where political messaging becomes very clear . Singh linked these results to leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said mandate is in favour of BJP's initiatives, development and trust . Party is also saying its organisation has become stronger till booth level, with workers' efforts finally showing results .
But at same time, state BJP President Rajeev Bindal went after Congress government pretty sharply . He accused Congress of alleged attempts at horse-trading in election of Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons of Panchayati Raj institutions, and said recent rule changes increased chances of manipulation . He called it unconstitutional and betrayal of public mandate .
Bindal also claimed BJP support base is growing in Municipal Corporation elections, especially in Palampur, and said wave of change is moving across Himachal Pradesh . Now question is whether these local results stay local only,or start becoming bigger political headache for Congress in state…
