This whole Salman Khan vs Varun Dhawan comparison around 'Chunar Chunar' remix has become one more typical internet debate where nostalgia, remakes and fan emotions all crashed together . And honestly,Anu Mallik's reaction is much calmer than what many people may have expected .
After remixed version of 'Chunar Chunar' came out for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai,many netizens started criticizing Varun Dhawan's performance and comparing him badly with Salman Khan's original version . That was bound to happen also, because old songs have strong memory attached with them.
But Anu Mallik, who spoke to IANS,seems in no mood to add more fuel . When asked about negative feedback on remake,he said,"I think we should not get into it. Frankly,I never get into that... I like to see good in people."
And tbh, that answer feels very deliberate . Not defensive, not angry, just one industry person trying to stay away from fan war.
Few things standing out in this whole debate:
- 'Chunar Chunar' remix faced backlash after comparisons between Salman Khan and Varun Dhawan .
- Anu Mallik said he wants to see good in people instead of focusing on negativity.
- Abhijeet Bhattacharya earlier expressed discontent with remake, saying no one can replicate Khan's unique style.
Mallik also explained his own approach to making songs . He said,"I do a song with the mindset that if I am making song with 100% dedication, the actor will take it to 1000%..." That line basically shows how he sees actor's contribution also, not just music composer side only.
He praised Salman Khan for taking original track higher with his performance, and at same time appreciated Varun Dhawan for energetic dance in remake . This is where his stand becomes clear,he does not want one version to destroy other version.
Mallik finally said,"I don't want to see any negativity; I am only looking at the positives." And yes,it sounds simple, but in remake debates, simple positivity itself becomes rare ah.
Still,Abhijeet Bhattacharya's earlier unhappiness also cannot be ignored because original singers and fans often feel remakes dilute memory of old songs . So now question is,are remixes really celebrating old music or just reopening old comparisons again and again…
