R. Rahman felt very warm because it was not some usual promotional talk only . It sounded like one artist openly admitting how much another artist still amazes him.
Imtiaz Ali was speaking about Rahman’s dedication to music, and he gave one very simple but powerful example from studio itself . He said,"Yesterday, I was at your studio, sir, till 4:30 in the morning." Now working till 4:30 in morning is not small thing ah,especially when you have already done so much in career.
And Rahman also made whole thing lighter with his own humour . He said,"For first time, I felt sleepy," and audience laughed . But behind that joke, you can clearly see how normal these late-night sessions are for him .
Harsh Limbachiyaa also pointed out their collaborative magic on show, and mentioned that this is their fifth film together . He asked Imtiaz what makes this partnership so special, which honestly is fair question because Ali-Rahman combo has its own emotional space in Bollywood music.
Few things standing out from this whole conversation:
- Collaboration history — This is the fifth film featuring Ali and Rahman together.
- Late-night sessions — Rahman’s dedication includes working until 4:30 AM.
- Song recommendation — Ali urged fans to listen to 'Aazma Le' from Taxi No. 9211.
Imtiaz’s answer was interesting because he did not act like this magic started because of him . He said that magic was always there, and his admiration has just grown more after working together again and again .
He even said,"As big a fan as I was of Rehman sir earlier, I can definitely say that after doing five films with him,I’ve become an even bigger fan of his." And tbh, that line feels genuine because sometimes repeated collaboration can reduce excitement, but here it seems opposite happened .
Then Imtiaz summed up Rahman’s passion in one line,"The love for the music,it’s so intense." That says a lot . Not about fame, not about awards, not about legacy… just love for music.
And maybe that is why people still feel something different when Rahman’s music lands properly in film . There is discipline, there is madness, there is some late-night silence inside it also… and maybe even Imtiaz is still trying to fully understand that magic…
