The Yonex Sunrise CCI-GMBA Mumbai District Badminton Championship 2026 at CCI courts in Churchgate had some really strong performances,especially from Cricket Club of India (CCI) players.
On June 21,champions came out across different age categories,and names like Rudra Gawde,Ruhaan Bhatia,Akshat Raisurana and Harshit Mahimkar stood out properly . Not small thing ah,because these are young shuttlers handling pressure of finals in front of everyone.
Rudra Gawde had one very solid outing in girls' U-15 final,beating Anvisha Ghorpade 21-14,21-17 . What stood out was how she mixed caution with aggression,not just blindly attacking every rally .
In boys' U-15 final,Ruhaan Bhatia looked totally in control against Vivaan Waingankar . Winning 21-6,21-17 in final says enough about how sharply he played,especially in first game where gap was huge.
Few things clearly stood out from this championship:

- Thrilling matches showed how competitive young shuttlers already are.

And then came boys' U-17 finals,where top seed Akshat Raisurana defeated Dhruv Pawar 21-18,21-13 . First game was close enough to test him,but he still found way to close it and then looked more settled in second.
But tbh,Harshit Mahimkar’s boys' U-19 win had that proper comeback feeling . He faced clubmate Akshat Raisurana and after losing first game 18-21,he turned it around with 21-7,21-15 . That kind of response in final says lot about mindset only .
Naishaa Kaur Bhatoye and Ajay Meena also emerged victorious in women's and men's singles titles,respectively,wrapping up tournament on strong note . Overall,it felt like event was not just about trophies,but also about showing how much badminton talent is quietly building in Mumbai.
And when so many young players are already playing with this much fight and control,you start wondering how many of them will actually break into much bigger stages from here…
