Uttar Pradesh is going really big for International Yoga Day on June 21,and honestly, the scale itself is something people will talk about . Around 1.42 crore students are expected to take part in yoga activities across 1.32 lakh schools, which is not small thing ah.
Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, preparations have been made across state so event does not remain just another school function . Idea is to show yoga as part of health and wellness, not just one morning activity done for photos.
And this time,it is not only students being pulled in . Teachers, parents and local communities are also being included, which makes whole thing feel more like public wellness drive than normal school program .
Basic Education Department has planned activities for students from Parishadiya Vidyalayas and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas . They will join collective yoga practices and awareness sessions where benefits of yoga will be discussed in simple way .
Few things planned for June 21:
- Collective yoga sessions with students, teachers and parents joining wellness activities
- Awareness programs explaining mental and physical benefits of yoga
- Community involvement to spread message of healthy living
Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, the Director of Education (Basic),has been appointed as nodal officer for coordinating these events . Basically, his role will be to make sure activities happen properly across such huge number of schools.
But main point here is that department does not want this to become formality only . Guidelines have been issued to educational officers across Uttar Pradesh so Yoga Day observance actually connects with students and their daily routine.
And tbh, this part matters more than big numbers . If students learn discipline, health awareness and positive thinking through yoga, then event can have some real value beyond June 21 .
Yogi government has already been working to bring yoga more into school education, and this year’s celebration is expected to strengthen global identity of yoga as part of healthy lifestyle for younger generation.
Still, big question is whether this energy will continue after International Yoga Day is over,or whether schools will slowly return to old routine once event photos are done…
