UGC NET June 2026 has started today and honestly, for many students, this is not just another exam day . This is one of those moments where months of preparation, pressure from family, and future plans all come together in one hall .
National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting exam from June 22 to June 30 . This national-level test is for candidates aiming at Junior Research Fellowships,Assistant Professor roles, and PhD admissions across Indian universities.
And yes, before anything else, candidates really need to check admit card properly . Small mistake like wrong reporting time, wrong centre detail,or missing document can create unnecessary panic at last minute.
Exam will happen in two shifts every day . First shift is from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, and candidates have to report by 7:00 AM . Second shift is from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM,and reporting time is 1:00 PM .
That two-hour early reporting may feel tiring, but NTA has clearly asked candidates to reach early because security checks and verification take time . And on exam day,no one wants to argue at gate over timing or ID proof.
Few things candidates should keep in mind:
- Printed admit card, valid photo ID,and passport-sized photograph are required at exam center.
- Mobile phones, smartwatches, electronic gadgets, and study materials are not allowed inside examination hall.
- UGC NET has two papers in one three-hour session with multiple-choice questions.
And tbh, this is where simple preparation matters more than last-minute reading . If candidate reaches centre without valid identification,NTA has said entry will not be allowed . That is not small thing ah,especially after preparing for so many months.
One good thing for many candidates is that there is no negative marking policy . So even if some questions feel doubtful, students can attempt with bit more confidence instead of leaving everything blank out of fear.
But still, exam pressure is exam pressure only . Guidelines are there, documents are there, timings are fixed, but finally it comes down to staying calm inside that room when clock starts running…
