This Iran deal situation is again getting stuck at tense point, with President Donald Trump postponing his final determination on draft deal after two-hour meeting with his national security team at White House . And honestly, when nuclear issue and Hormuz Strait both come in same discussion,it is not small thing ah.
Meeting happened inside Situation Room, and from what is being said,Trump is still not ready to give final yes or no . That itself shows how sensitive this whole thing has become between U.S. and Iran.
White House spokesperson put it very directly: "President Trump will only make deal that is good for America and satisfies his redlines. Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon." That line pretty much tells where administration is standing rn .
Earlier in day,Trump also listed conditions for any possible agreement with Iran . He talked about elimination of enriched nuclear materials and removal of water mines in the Hormuz Strait,so shipping traffic can move without restriction.
And then on Truth Social,he wrote,"Iran must agree that they will never have Nuclear Weapon or Bomb. The Hormuz Strait must be immediately open, no tolls, for unrestricted shipping traffic,in both directions." This is not soft messaging at all.
Few points standing out clearly here:
- Trump is insisting Iran must never develop nuclear weapons.
- Hormuz Strait should be toll-free and open for shipping traffic in both directions.
- U.S. wants to work with Iran and International Atomic Energy Agency to dismantle nuclear materials.
But tbh, real complication is that both sides may not even be looking at same issue in same way . Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said current discussions are limited in scope and do not address nuclear issue. That makes whole negotiation more confusing.
During meeting,Trump reportedly repeated that any deal must fit U.S. interests and keep Iran's nuclear program from moving forward . At same time, tensions between U.S . and Iran are already simmering,so one decision from Trump can shift diplomatic mood very quickly.
And this is where things feel uncertain, because Washington is talking nuclear redlines,Hormuz Strait and security, while Iran is suggesting talks are not really about nuclear issue… so what exactly are both sides going to agree on from here…
