One very heartbreaking incident has come out from Mumbra,Thane where a 17-year-old girl lost her life to electrocution while simply stepping outside her own building . And the more details that come out,the more disturbing whole situation feels.
On evening of July 3,2026,Aliya Mohammad Sajid Chandiwala was leaving her building near iron gate of Yasmin Apartment around 8:30 PM . Heavy rainfall had caused water to accumulate in that area and Aliya reportedly came in contact with electrified water outside her home . She was rushed to nearby hospital immediately but doctors declared her dead on arrival .
She was only 17 years old . That part is really hard to process.
What makes this case even more painful is what her father revealed in his complaint . Residents had already alerted Torrent Power Limited about persistent voltage fluctuations in that area on June 15 . That warning went through company's official WhatsApp helpline . And nothing was done about it.
So family and community raised concern weeks before this tragedy . Company apparently did not act . And then this happened .
Few things standing out clearly in this case:

- Mumbra Police filed FIR against officials from Torrent Power Limited on negligence charges .
- Similar electrocution death occurred in nearby Bhiwandi just one day prior.
That Bhiwandi case is equally disturbing . 26-year-old sweet shop worker named Mustafa Shaikh lost his life after touching live wire . His family and local residents took to streets,accusing both temple management and power utility of negligence . Accidental death report has been filed in that case and investigation is ongoing right now.
Two electrocution deaths,two different locations,within same area,within one day of each other . That is not coincidence anymore,that is pattern.
Honestly,both these incidents point toward same underlying failure . Monsoon season brings flooding,flooding brings waterlogged streets,waterlogged streets become dangerous when electrical infrastructure is poorly maintained . This is not unknown risk . Everyone living in these areas knows this happens every year.
And yet complaints go unanswered,warnings get ignored,and families end up losing people they love because some company did not send one person to check one problem in time.
Community is now demanding accountability and immediate fixes to electrical infrastructure especially in flood-prone pockets of region . Police investigation is continuing and FIR has been filed . But for Aliya's family,no investigation outcome or legal action is going to bring back their daughter who was simply walking out of her own building on rainy evening…
Whether power companies and local authorities will actually make changes before next monsoon,or whether another family will have to lose someone before anything moves…that question is still sitting unanswered right now.
