One sad incident has come from Anna Salai in Chennai, and honestly,it feels like one of those cases where small unsafe spot can turn deadly in seconds . A 40-year-old labourer,R. Ramesh, lost his life after being electrocuted on June 21 ,2026.
According to police reports,Ramesh lived on Lathuram Street . He had reportedly returned home heavily intoxicated and fell asleep outside his house for some time.
But later,he went towards vacant area opposite his home . That is where he came into contact with a pillar box,and police say electrocution happened immediately.
And this is honestly scary ah,because pillar boxes and electrical installations are in public spaces only . People walk around them daily without thinking twice.
Few things standing out in this incident:
- R. Ramesh,a 40-year-old labourer,died after electrocution on Anna Salai .
- Police said he came into contact with a pillar box in vacant area opposite his home.
- His body has been sent to Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Anna Salai police have started looking into circumstances around incident . They have sent Ramesh's body to Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital for further examination, and investigation is going on .
Local residents are now asking for better safety protocols around such electrical setups . And tbh, that concern feels very valid because public utility structures should not become danger zones for people living nearby.
At same time, this case also shows how vulnerable people can be when safety gaps are ignored . One exposed risk, one unsafe installation, one wrong step… and whole family loses someone .
Community is mourning Ramesh's death, but bigger question is still hanging there . How many such spots are sitting openly in Chennai right now, waiting for next accident…
