A major drug bust just came out of Thane, and the details are genuinely striking. Late on July 28, 2026, the Thane Crime Branch intercepted what turned out to be a ₹3 crore narcotics haul near Kalyan Phata — and the whole thing reportedly unfolded because of one precise intelligence tip that led officers straight to their target.
The suspect, a 30-year-old man, was traveling in a regular autorickshaw when police stopped and searched him. What they found was 1.5 kg of mephedrone.
A few things stand out clearly in this case:
- Mephedrone recovery — a total of 1.5 kg of the synthetic stimulant was found in the suspect's possession during the search.
- Market valuation — the seized consignment is estimated to be worth approximately ₹3 crore in the illegal trade.
- Legal action — the accused has been formally booked under relevant narcotics laws for drug trafficking.
This operation is part of ongoing anti-drug efforts in the Mumbai metropolitan region.
