Something really unexpected has come out of Maharashtra politics right now and honestly,it is kind of news that makes you stop and read twice . Two cousins who have been politically estranged for years,Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray,are now coming together for one joint protest march on July 5 in Mumbai.
And the reason bringing them together is Maharashtra government's three-language policy which mandates inclusion of Hindi in state's school curriculum . This is issue that has clearly touched nerve with Marathi-speaking community in very deep way.
The protest march is scheduled to start from Girgaon Chowpatty and conclude at Azad Maidan . Both these locations carry lot of significance in Mumbai's political history,so choice of route itself is sending message .
Now what is interesting is how this whole thing apparently started . Sanjay Raut,Member of Parliament from Shiv Sena (UBT),revealed that idea came through phone call from Raj Thackeray himself . Raut stated,"I received a call from MNS chief Raj Thackeray suggesting we have one joint protest. I conveyed this to Uddhav Saheb,and without a moment's hesitation,he agreed."
Without moment's hesitation . That part is worth sitting with for second .

And honestly,that clarification itself tells you something . Both camps are clearly comfortable walking together on this one issue but nobody wants to over-commit about what comes next in elections or broader politics.
Earlier there were actually reports suggesting both leaders were planning separate rallies . So shift from competing protests to one joint march is genuinely significant change in direction . Whether it came from tactical thinking or genuine shared frustration over Hindi imposition,outcome is same — two rival factions standing on same stage.
For Marathi-speaking population,this moment probably feels like long-overdue show of solidarity on language question . Three-language policy has stirred real debate across communities and many people see it as encroachment on regional identity that cannot be ignored .
But here is thing that remains completely open… this protest happens on July 5,crowds gather,speeches are made,and then what ? Does this shared platform slowly build into something bigger politically,or does everyone go back to their own corners once march is done ? Raj and Uddhav have too much complicated history between them for one rally to quietly resolve everything .
