Tesla has now announced Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive in India on May 29 ,and honestly,this launch feels like one of those moments where EV market here gets little more serious.
Price is ₹50.89 lakh,so clearly this is not some mass-market easy buy . But at same time,Tesla name itself creates huge curiosity,and Model Y coming with new premium variant will definitely get attention from people who were waiting.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in July 2026 . That is still some distance away,but announcement itself shows Tesla is slowly trying to widen its electric vehicle portfolio in India .
And features are quite loaded ah. This variant gets all-black interior,larger 16-inch touchscreen,and optional Zen Grey interior theme . It can seat five passengers and offers storage capacity of up to 2,138 litres,with power-folding seats helping increase cargo space.

Range is another big point. Up to 500 km on single charge under WLTP standards sounds practical for urban use and even long-distance driving,at least on paper . But Indian road conditions,charging access and real-world usage will matter only.
Safety ratings are also mentioned,with Model Y getting top safety ratings from global organizations . That should help buyers feel more confident,especially when paying ₹50.89 lakh is not small thing .
And tbh,this is where real question starts. Tesla has brand,premium feel,performance and range,but India is price-sensitive market . So how many people will actually wait till July 2026 and pay this much for Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive…
