Rovman Powell nearly did something crazy in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026,and for few minutes,it really felt like six sixes in one over was happening .
Playing for Los Angeles Knight Riders against Seattle Orcas,Powell went after Dasun Shanaka in 17th over like he had decided match needed one full explosion . First ball went for six, then second, then third… and suddenly everyone was counting.
Five consecutive sixes is not small thing ah . Crowd was fully into it,Orcas bowlers looked under pressure, and Powell was just clearing boundary with that proper power-hitting style he is known for .
And tbh, that sixth ball must have felt like lifetime for everyone watching . Fans, players, even bowler probably knew history was sitting right there.
Few things standing out from this over:
- Rovman Powell smashed five consecutive sixes in 17th over.
- Dasun Shanaka dismissed him on final delivery when he tried for sixth six .
- His quickfire 37 runs helped Los Angeles Knight Riders reach 196 runs.
On sixth delivery,Shanaka changed plan and went fuller . Powell tried to send that also out of ground, but he mis-timed it and got caught near boundary . So close to one rare cricket moment, but gone just before finish line .
Still, that 37 runs changed mood of innings badly . Los Angeles Knight Riders got to imposing total of 196 runs, and that kind of late hitting can completely disturb opposition plans.
After that,Seattle Orcas just could not recover . Bowlers from Knight Riders, with Sunil Narine and Andre Russell in mix, kept control and bowled Seattle Orcas out for just 115 runs .
But even after such big win, people will probably remember that 17th over first . Because five sixes and then wicket on sixth ball… that is the type of moment cricket keeps replaying in head, with one question hanging there… what if that last shot had gone six too…
