Rahul Gandhi has once again raised Manipur issue and honestly,situation he is describing is not getting any better with time . 20 more homes have been destroyed in fresh violence and that number alone should make everyone stop and think seriously .
In one tweet that got lot of attention,Gandhi wrote "मणिपुर सालों से जल रहा है,और आज फिर नफ़रत और हिंसा की आग में 20 घर राख हो गए।" And reading that line,it really does hit differently when you remember this crisis has been dragging on for so long now .
Gandhi's core argument in this tweet seems to be that central government has completely failed Manipur . He pointed out that even after imposition of President's Rule and presence of two governments in picture,violence has only intensified . That is not small failure at all.
And the human cost he described is devastating . His words "हज़ारों लोग अपनी जान गंवा चुके हैं" — thousands of lives already lost . Countless families completely destroyed . These are not just statistics,these are real people whose entire world collapsed .
Three things Gandhi raised that are worth paying attention to:
- Ongoing violence has now destroyed 20 more homes,adding to already massive property damage across Manipur .
- Gandhi directly criticized Modi administration's handling of crisis,calling their response deeply inadequate.
- He called for national unity,saying "भारत जोड़ना ही एकमात्र रास्ता है" as only path toward peace .
One line in particular felt very sharp . Gandhi said "आज मणिपुर ही नहीं,पूरा देश प्रधानमंत्री से संवेदना के दो शब्द की भी उम्मीद छोड़ चुका है" — meaning even expectation of basic empathy from Prime Minister has now been abandoned by public . That kind of statement reflects very deep disillusionment,not just political opposition .
And when citizens stop expecting even words of sympathy from their leader,that itself says something very uncomfortable about where things stand right now.
Gandhi concluded with "मणिपुर बेहतर का हक़दार है" — Manipur deserves better . And honestly,it is hard to argue with that sentiment when you look at what people there have been living through for so long.
But the real question that keeps coming back is — political statements and tweets are one thing,actual ground-level change is completely another .
