One more worrying fraud story has come from Pune, and honestly, this type of case hits differently because victim is retired senior citizen . Mahadev Sakharam Pawar, aged 63,was allegedly cheated of ₹11 lakh by man who claimed he had strong connection as a Police Commissioner .
Pawar lives in Yerawada and after realising things were not going anywhere,he filed complaint at local police station . Accused has been identified as Vincent John Muntode,60,from Lohegaon, and now he is facing serious charges of cheating and fraud.
As per police reports,Muntode allegedly told Pawar that he could help secure good government jobs for his son in Railway and Police departments . And for any parent, this kind of promise can feel like big hope, especially when it comes to child's future.
But this is where whole thing starts looking ugly.
Police say Muntode collected ₹5 lakh in cash from Pawar and later took another ₹6 lakh through bank transfers . Money reportedly went into his personal account and also account of his wife . Total amount became ₹11 lakh, not small thing ah.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Vincent John Muntode allegedly promised government jobs in Railway and Police departments.
- Mahadev Sakharam Pawar was allegedly defrauded of ₹11 lakh through ₹5 lakh cash and ₹6 lakh bank transfers.
- Police are checking if more people may have fallen for similar scam.
After waiting for promised job opportunities,Pawar reportedly asked for his money back . But Muntode allegedly started avoiding issue, and that is when Pawar understood he had been cheated.
And tbh, this is what makes such scams so painful . It is not just money loss, there is trust, hope, family pressure and future planning involved . Someone uses all that weakness and turns it into business.
Investigation is being led by Police Sub-Inspector Kundan Satre, under supervision of Senior Police Inspector Anjum Bagwan . Police are also asking anyone who may have been similarly affected to come forward while inquiry continues rn.
At same time, this case again shows how job promises in name of government departments can trap people very easily . One fake connection, one confident claim, one desperate hope… and whole savings can vanish like this…
