So I was just reading about Union Minister L . Murugan's recent visit to Kolasib district in Mizoram . And it seems there was lot of talk about development and progress for the entire Northeast region .
He was basically reiterating PM Narendra Modi and Central government's commitment to the area . The main point was that India's overall growth is tied to the growth of Northeast, which is true ah.
And he also gave praise to the local Heads of Offices and NGOs for their work . He mentioned there are visible improvements in things like sports and women’s empowerment initiatives, which is always good to hear .
But tbh,it's specific details that really tell the story.
One big thing he mentioned was the Bairabi-Sairang railway line, which is now operational . This has apparently allowed Rajdhani Express service to start between Delhi and Sairang, which is near Aizawl. This is a pretty big deal for connectivity and they hope it will bring more tourists to Mizoram.
And honestly, this is where things get bit more serious.
While talking about new infrastructure is one thing,Murugan also brought up "alarming dropout rates" among students there . He urged everyone to motivate children and parents to prioritize education, saying primary education is foundation for everything. That's huge issue that needs more than just talk.
Few key takeaways from the visit:
- new Bairabi-Sairang railway line is a major connectivity boost for Mizoram.
- Serious concern was raised over the very high student dropout rates in the region.
- There was push to implement the PM Surya Ghar rooftop solar scheme .
The minister also had a meeting with Kolasib's Deputy Commissioner,H. Dolianbuaia,to discuss development strategies . Everything is apparently part of bigger ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, which aims to make India a developed nation .
It's all good to hear these plans and promises about development and infra . But when serious issue like education dropout is mentioned at same time, you have to wonder what is being done on the ground level right now… all these big visions depend on next generation only,no?
