This PM-KISAN update is honestly big one ah,because money going straight into farmer accounts is not small thing when input costs keep rising every season . And now Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme has crossed over ₹4.46 lakh crore in total disbursal since launch in 2019.
On June 21,2026,government released 23rd instalment of scheme at event in Tarakeswar,in Hooghly district of West Bengal . In this round, around ₹18,880 crore was directly transferred into bank accounts of nearly 9.44 crore eligible farmers.
And among them, over 2.18 crore beneficiaries were women . That number stands out because many times women do farm work silently, but recognition and direct benefit do not always reach them properly.
PM-KISAN was launched on February 24,2019 and gives each eligible farmer family ₹6,000 annually . This amount comes in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 . Not huge money if we look at full farming expenses, but for seeds, fertiliser, small urgent needs,it can still help at right time.
But there is process also. Farmers need to link land records with PM-KISAN portal and make sure bank accounts are connected to Aadhaar . Without these steps, benefit can get delayed or stuck, and that becomes another headache for people who are already running around offices.
Few points standing out from this update:
- ₹60,000 crore has been allocated for 2026-27 for PM-KISAN.
- Over 5 lakh Common Service Centres are helping farmers with registration and e-KYC completion .
- 23% of beneficiaries are women under scheme.
Union Budget for 2026-27 has kept ₹60,000 crore for PM-KISAN,and government says this shows continued focus on farmer income security . Scheme is also meant to reduce dependence on informal credit sources, which matters because local borrowing can become very heavy very fast .
And yes, government also added over one crore farmers during Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra . With e-KYC verification completed, farmers are expected to keep getting these payments smoothly, but ground reality always depends on records, banks,Aadhaar linking and local help only.
Tbh,scheme looks strong on paper and ₹4.46 lakh crore is huge figure . But real question is still same… whether this steady support is enough for farmers facing rising costs, climate stress and market uncertainty every year…
