Just heard about this theft case involving actress Raveena Tandon's family and honestly,it's the kind of story that makes you really second-guess who you let into your home.
So Mumbai Police have arrested a 48-year-old house help,Rashi Chabria,who had been with the family since 2020 . She's accused of stealing gold jewelry and other valuables worth around ₹25 lakh from the residence of Raveena's 86-year-old mother. That's a huge amount ah .
Apparently,the theft happened between August 2025 and October 2025 . The family had moved all jewelry into a safe inside closet because some renovation work was going on at home. A very normal thing to do.
But the whole thing came out on October 2,when the family discovered that jewelry and even some expensive watches were gone from the locker . Imagine that feeling of shock.
And this is where it gets messy. When the family first asked Chabria about it,she completely denied everything . But after more questioning,she apparently returned stolen watches and then claimed she gave all the jewelry to some person named Jagdish.
The whole thing is just a massive breach of trust,which is worst part.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Total value of stolen items is estimated at ₹25 lakh.
- Accused Rashi Chabria had gained family's trust over five years.
- Police have only recovered 15 grams of gold so far .
A formal case was filed at Juhu Police Station,and she was arrested . But recovery is still partial. Police are saying she used her long relationship with the family to get around security. official said,"She used to cook and assist in caring for the elderly mother,which allowed her easy access to the house."
That quote only makes it worse. She was trusted with caring for an elderly person.
Right now,the search for the remaining jewelry is still going on,and police are also investigating if other people were involved in this whole thing.
It just leaves you with a very uneasy feeling… how do you ever fully trust someone in your own home,especially when they are close to your elders? It’s a very difficult situation…
