One thing that many train travellers between Mumbai and Bengaluru have been waiting for is finally getting close to reality . Vande Bharat Sleeper train is now at its final testing phase at KSR Bengaluru railway station and honestly,the excitement around this is completely understandable .

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had previously indicated May timeline for the rollout . But as of July 2,2026 update,the rake is still stationed at Bengaluru facility going through final inspections before official flag-off ceremony . So clearly things have taken little longer than originally expected .

Senior railway official directly addressed current situation and said,"The train will begin operations only after all safety trials are completed and the necessary approvals are obtained." And honestly,that is exactly the kind of statement you want to hear before sending passengers at 180 kmph through night .
Interior configuration itself sounds quite well thought out . 11 AC 3-tier coaches,four AC 2-tier coaches,one First AC coach… there is reasonable option for different kinds of travellers on this corridor.
Beyond just Mumbai-Bengaluru connection,this service is expected to make real difference for residents of Pune and Hubballi specifically . For long time people in these cities have been depending on older express trains which honestly cannot compete with what Vande Bharat Sleeper promises in terms of speed and comfort.
