This TMC fight has suddenly become very ugly, and honestly,it no longer looks like normal post-election anger . Mahua Moitra calling rebel MPs "traitors" after their move to Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) shows how deep this split has gone inside party.
Whole drama is coming after TMC's disappointing performance in recent West Bengal Assembly elections . And now with twenty MPs leaving party, pressure on Mamata Banerjee is clearly not small thing ah .
On June 21,2026 ,Moitra went on social media and mocked newly launched Facebook page of NCPI . She wrote,"Introducing NCPI – new party of the 20 MPs elected on AITC symbols. Its FB page says 'it helps poor people of our society'. Really hope it manages to help these 20 not-so-poor traitors too."
And that line says everything about mood inside TMC right now . This is not just polite political disagreement anymore, this is open bitterness between loyalists and those who walked out.
But then Kakoli Dastidar Ghosh ,one of key rebel faces, hit back by bringing up RG Kar incident . She questioned Moitra directly and said,"Were you part of party at #RGKar? On day Abhaya met her end protesting against misuse of funds meant for drug purchase for poor patients? You stand by her or not?"
That reply made matter even more sensitive because rebels are not just saying they left for power or position . They are trying to frame it around accountability, transparency and questions over how party handled certain issues.
Few things standing out clearly in this fight:
- Twenty MPs have quit the TMC for NCPI,raising serious concern inside party.
- Mamata Banerjee is under pressure as leadership faces internal dissent.
- Rebels are citing accountability issues while loyalists are calling them traitors.
And tbh, this is where things get uncomfortable for TMC . When fight stays inside meeting rooms, party can still manage image outside . But when leaders start taking shots publicly with names, quotes and past incidents, damage becomes much harder to control .
For voters also, this kind of split creates confusion . One side says betrayal, other side says accountability . Both sides are using big words, but real question is whether TMC can hold itself together after losing so many MPs at once.
And right now,it feels like this is not ending with one angry post or one reply . Something bigger is still moving under surface…
