Maharashtra's Operation Tiger Sees Defections, Claims Success by Eknath Shinde

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde declared 'Operation Tiger' successful, with two Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs announcing their shift to his faction. Citing lack of development funds and derogatory remarks from party leaders, the MPs expressed their discontent. This shift solidifies Shinde's position and potentially alters the political landscape. The move follows a series of defections that could impact the upcoming political dynamics in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra's Operation Tiger Sees Defections, Claims Success by Eknath Shinde

Key Takeaways

  • Operation Tiger successfully attracts Shiv Sena MPs
  • Defections due to lack of development funds
  • Thackeray criticizes BJP for party fragmentation

Honestly, this kind of move is not small thing ah,especially when it involves MPs shifting from Shiv Sena (UBT) to Shinde side.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said this operation was about strengthening his Shiv Sena faction . But from outside,it looks like another big crack inside opposition camp, and timing also feels very deliberate.

As per report, two of six Lok Sabha members from Shiv Sena (UBT) have publicly said they want to join Shinde's faction . These MPs are Nagesh Patil Ashtikar and Omraje Nimbalkar, and both pointed towards lack of development funds and insulting comments from their own party leaders.

And tbh, that second reason says lot . Money for constituency development is one thing, but when leaders start feeling disrespected inside party, then split becomes almost expected.

Ashtikar also said in video statement,“Till June 18,we had not taken any decision,” which means according to him, this was not some sudden overnight plan . He suggested recent disparaging remarks from Uddhav Thackeray-led faction pushed them closer to final decision.

Few things standing out clearly in this case:

  • Defection of six Shiv Sena MPs is being seen as major shift in political loyalties.
  • Concerns over lack of development funds are being openly raised by MPs.
  • Support from central BJP leadership seems to be giving Shinde's faction more strength .

Now another interesting part is that sources inside Shiv Sena said all six defecting MPs had signed letter to form separate group . Plan reportedly is to merge back into original Shiv Sena led by Shinde, and this move may help them avoid disqualification trouble because two-thirds majority in Lok Sabha can protect them from legal challenge .

But Uddhav Thackeray is clearly not letting this go quietly . At public rally in Mumbai North East,he attacked BJP and said Shiv Sena had historically opposed Congress, but BJP tried to break their party . That line itself shows how bitter this fight has become .

Thackeray is also set to tour six constituencies from June 26 to 29,especially areas represented by defecting MPs . So this is not just Delhi-Mumbai political calculation,it will now go directly to voters also.

And at same time, question is whether these MPs are moving because of real development issues or because power balance has already shifted too much towards Shinde camp . Maharashtra politics has seen many twists before, but this one feels like more trouble waiting ahead…
