The Latur collector's office has made significant strides in governance by being ranked among the top five performing collector offices in Maharashtra under the state government's ambitious 150-day 'E-Governance Reforms Programme'. This achievement was officially announced on Republic Day, marking a notable recognition of the district’s commitment to enhancing administrative efficiency. Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge expressed pride in the collaborative efforts of all officers and staff, emphasizing that this recognition reflects their dedication to a transparent and citizen-centric administration.
Launched by the General Administration Department, the 150-day programme aimed to modernize administrative operations through the adoption of digital tools and innovative practices. Under the leadership of guardian minister Shivendrasinghraj Bhosale, the district implemented several initiatives designed to improve governance, including upgrades to the official website, the introduction of the Right to Services (RTS) Act, and the deployment of the e-Office system to streamline operations.
- High accessibility of services — The district's official website now offers information in 23 languages, making it easier for citizens to access services.
- Exceptional application resolution rate — Under the RTS Act, 97.93% of applications were resolved promptly, enhancing service delivery.
- Innovative AI integration — Workshops for staff on AI tools have improved decision-making and document accuracy.
Furthermore, the incorporation of a WhatsApp chatbot has allowed citizens to access 50 government services, providing vital information about schemes and facilitating the lodging of complaints. This innovative approach has garnered over 5.31 lakh visits to the website, showcasing the district's dedication to making governance more accessible.
In addition to these technological advancements, the district administration has focused on enhancing the speed and efficiency of administrative processes. Over 72,671 e-files were created during the review period, significantly reducing processing times. The dashboard-based monitoring system also enables real-time oversight of administrative work. As a result, Latur district achieved a score of 179.25, solidifying its position as a leader in the state's e-governance initiatives.
