Bengaluru people have one more thing to plan around now, because Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited ( KPTCL ) has announced major power disruptions on June 22 due to essential maintenance tasks . And honestly, for city where daily life depends so much on power, this is not small inconvenience ah.
Maintenance work will focus on various substations, and busy commercial zones like M.G. Road and Brigade Road are also expected to feel impact . These are not quiet side lanes only, banks and shopping centers are there,so even few hours of outage can disturb lot of people.
Power supply interruptions will be most pronounced in regions served by 66/11KV Mathikere substation . Areas such as Lottegollahalli,MLA layout, and H.M.T . Layout will face outages from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m . .
Similarly, maintenance at 66/11 kV IISc Master Unit Sub Station will affect power supply in Malleshwaram,BHEL,and surrounding areas during same hours . So for residents there, day may need to be planned properly before power goes.
Few things residents should keep in mind:
- Certain areas will see disruptions for two consecutive days,from June 22 to June 23,from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. .
- Residents, particularly those with elderly or young children, are encouraged to make preparations ahead of these outages.
- Other neighborhoods, including Tharabanahalli and Maruthi nagara, will also be impacted.
And tbh,two-day power outage from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. is quite heavy for households . Charging phones, storing water, keeping backup lights ready, all these small things suddenly become main tasks.
In addition to planned outages, power supply disruptions are also anticipated from 66/11 KV ‘B’ Station between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. . This will affect locations such as ING Vyasa Bank and various main roads, which again means regular movement and work may get disturbed .
KPTCL is saying this is for essential maintenance, and yes, maintenance has to happen . But at same time, people need clear updates because one missed timing can mess up full day schedule.
So now Bengaluru residents in these areas are basically left checking timings, charging devices, and hoping outage does not stretch beyond announced hours…
