This Sabarimala temple matter is getting serious now,and honestly,Kerala High Court questioning retention of two senior Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) officials is not small thing ah . When temple funds,materials and procurement come under doubt,public trust also gets shaken badly.
On June 19,2026 ,Kerala High Court directed TDB to give detailed explanation about roles of two officials,O.G . Biju and S . Sreenivas . Court is especially looking at how these officials kept getting postings in different capacities at Sabarimala temple over years.
And this is where issue becomes uncomfortable.
Mr. Biju has worked in multiple roles,including Administrative Officer and Executive Officer . Mr. Sreenivas was Main Store Superintendent earlier and later became Administrative Officer since August 2025 . So naturally,court seems to be asking why same officials remained connected with temple administration for so long.
Main focus rn is procurement of materials for Ashtabhishekam pooja,which has come under investigation . If there are alleged irregularities in buying materials for such religious work,then question is not just about paperwork,it is about faith and money both.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Court wants transparency and accountability among officials handling temple administration.
- Officials should not serve more than one year in temple administration,as per previous mandates.
- Court has called for detailed auditing of procurement transactions over past decade.
The High Court has also asked TDB to submit information about independent auditor engaged to check transactions linked to procurement process . That part matters because internal explanations alone may not satisfy people anymore,especially when public concern is already there.
And Sabarimala temple is not just any place . It is one of India's major pilgrimage sites,and lakhs of devotees connect with it emotionally . So when questions come about proper utilization of resources,people will obviously want clean answers .
Tbh,this feels like bigger issue than just two officials . It is also about how religious institutions manage money,materials and power behind scenes,without ordinary devotees knowing much.
Now all eyes are on how TDB responds to court and what details come out from audit . Because if same people were posted again and again despite earlier mandates,then someone will have to explain why that happened…
