Kerala weather is again turning serious, and honestly, this monsoon update is not looking like usual light rain alert only . IMD is now warning about widespread rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across state until June 2.
And this is happening as southwest monsoon is advancing further . India Meteorological Department says conditions are favourable for monsoon to move deeper over large parts of Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, which means Kerala may see more intense spells in coming days.
Right now,IMD is watching multiple cyclonic circulations also . One is over southeast Arabian Sea,while others are around southwest Bay of Bengal and Tamil Nadu coast . When so many systems become active together, weather can change very fast ah.
Few things standing out from forecast:
- Isolated heavy rain is likely on May 29 and June 1-2 .
- Thunderstorms and gusty winds may touch 40 to 50 kmph in affected areas.
- Fishermen have been warned about rough sea conditions during active monsoon phase.
And tbh, coastal areas and high-range places need to be more careful here . Strong winds, lightning and sudden heavy showers can easily create local disruptions, especially where roads, fishing activity and hill travel are involved.
IMD has also said southwest monsoon is expected to move into southwest and southeast Arabian Sea,Lakshadweep area and different parts of Bay of Bengal . That sounds very technical, but simple meaning is rain system is getting stronger around Kerala side.
Some parts of Kerala are already getting intermittent heavy showers . Now with weekend and early next week coming, meteorologists are expecting rainfall intensity to increase more, especially as all these atmospheric systems line up together.
For farmers and water resources, this monsoon push matters a lot because Kerala depends heavily on these rains for water storage and farming support . But at same time, too much rain in short time can create its own problems .
And for fishermen, this is not casual warning . Sea conditions can turn dangerous during such active phase,so ignoring advisory may become risky very quickly .
Kerala waits for monsoon every year, but when rain, wind, lightning and rough sea all come together like this,it becomes less about enjoying weather and more about staying alert… how intense this spell becomes now is real question.
