Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat of Jammu and Kashmir shared his pride on May 26 following the successful rescue of 320 individuals stranded in cable cars at Gulmarg. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various rescue teams that included the J&K Police, SDRF, NDRF, the Army, and local rescuers, stating, "Honestly speaking, I didn’t believe we could complete the task before midnight. It is a proud moment for me to stand with you."
The operation commenced with teams from the Gulmarg Police Station being the first responders on-site. They were soon joined by additional forces, including the Army and armed police, all of whom worked in a well-coordinated manner to ensure the safe descent of the stranded individuals. DGP Prabhat emphasized the unique challenges of rescuing people from cable cars, particularly in the mountainous terrain and adverse weather conditions.

During the operation, Special DGP Javaid Mujtaba Gilani and other senior officials closely monitored the proceedings. DGP Prabhat congratulated all personnel for their extraordinary efforts, stating, "You may be tired, hungry and thirsty, but I am sure all of you are happy because you were given a purpose today and you achieved success." This acknowledgment reflects the morale-boosting impact of leadership during such critical operations.
In recognition of their hard work, the DGP announced that each person involved in the rescue would receive the DG Commendation medal, highlighting the importance of acknowledging bravery in public service. He also mentioned that those already holding commendation certificates might receive further rewards, such as promotions, for their exceptional dedication and performance during the operation.
