In a significant breakthrough, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has apprehended Rajuram Bishnoi, a 40-year-old businessman from Danta (Bawaliya) village in the Jalore district of Rajasthan. Bishnoi is wanted in connection with multiple narcotics-related offenses, including a recent seizure of 412 grams of mephedrone, valued at approximately ₹12.36 lakh. His arrest highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the trafficking of illegal drugs in the region.
The arrest took place on May 26, following a detailed investigation that began with a raid on April 13 near the Ganesh Selection shop in the Ghee Kanta area of Ahmedabad. During this operation, two other individuals, Malaram Devasi and Ashokkumar Darji, were also taken into custody for possessing the mephedrone without legal authorization. This incident led to the registration of an offense at the DCB Police Station under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
- Seizure of contraband — Police seized 412 grams of mephedrone during a raid.
- Ongoing investigation — Authorities are probing the interstate narcotics network tied to Bishnoi.
- Previous criminal records — Bishnoi has a history of multiple criminal cases in Rajasthan.
Following the seizure, police traced Bishnoi's alleged involvement back to the supply of the mephedrone. Officials stated, “The accused who had supplied the seized mephedrone consignment was traced to village Danta (Bawaliya) in Sanchore taluka of Rajasthan.” This connection underscores the complex web of narcotics trafficking that extends beyond state lines, prompting further investigation into the origins of the seized drugs.
Additionally, investigations revealed that Bishnoi is not only linked to the recent Ahmedabad case but is also wanted in another NDPS case registered at the Abu Road RIICO Police Station in Rajasthan. His criminal background includes various offenses, such as a theft case from 2016 and multiple NDPS cases from 2019 and 2022, indicating a long-standing involvement in illegal activities. Law enforcement agencies are now working to unravel the broader narcotics network and identify other potential accomplices in this case.
