Takaichi during summit also raised concerns about situation in Gulf where numerous Japanese vessels are reportedly stranded right now . She emphasized how Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific initiative aligns with India's own vision of ocean as shared economic space . Given current global uncertainties,that alignment feels less like diplomatic language and more like genuine strategic necessity .
Officials from Japan after summit clarified that defence technologies being exported are intended solely for defensive purposes . Both leaders also called for expeditious scheduling of next round of India-Japan 2+2 Foreign and Defence Ministerial Dialogue before year's end to push their defence projects forward.
Energy security also came up separately . Leaders supported idea of strategic stockpiling of crude oil to meet bilateral needs,which again connects directly to those Gulf disruptions that are affecting both countries.
And then there is the larger shadow hanging over all of this… China's military expansion and North Korea's nuclear ambitions were both discussed during dialogue .
