One very tragic incident has now come out from Sakinaka,Mumbai where man reportedly died after falling into open manhole on road . And honestly,the fact that a contractor has now been booked is raising many uncomfortable questions about how long this kind of negligence keeps getting ignored.
According to reports,the victim whose identity has not yet been disclosed lost his balance and fell into the manhole while walking along road . Simple as that . person was just walking and lost his life because some contractor could not be bothered to cover one hole properly .
Witnesses reportedly said that manhole had been left open for extended period of time before this incident happened . Not hours . Days apparently . And that is what makes this so frustrating to read about.

Many residents have taken to social media right now demanding immediate action from BMC . Anger is building and people clearly feel this was completely preventable .
Investigations are continuing and BMC is reportedly under pressure to improve its infrastructure management practices . Urban planning experts have been pointing out for long time that regular maintenance and timely repairs are only real way to stop these tragedies from repeating.
But here is what stays uncomfortable after reading all this… how many more open manholes are sitting on Mumbai roads right now,invisible under monsoon water,waiting for next person to just walk by at wrong moment . Nobody seems to have solid answer to that question yet .
