This West Bengal case feels very disturbing because it is not just one murder story,it is again mixing politics,local anger,corruption allegations and mob violence together . On June 17,2026,a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker named Prasanta Dey was allegedly murdered in Howrah district of West Bengal.
And honestly,details around this whole incident are quite uneasy . Reports say local political figures are suspected,including deputy pradhan of Trinamool Congress,Sk Mafijul,and his associates .
According to reports,Dey was targeted during confrontation linked to past incidents of corruption and electoral violence in area . That itself shows situation was already heated,not something that suddenly came from nowhere.
But then things became worse when mob confronted Mafijul at his residence . Clash turned violent and Prasanta Dey lost his life in that chaos . And tbh,when political fights reach doorstep violence like this,it becomes scary for ordinary people also .
One detail that really stands out is call received by Dey's wife after incident . She was reportedly urged to remove her husband's body from scene . That is not small thing ah,that kind of call can shake family even more after already losing someone.
After this,Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said eight suspects have been apprehended and case has been handed over to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further inquiry . He also spoke about strong action against corruption and asked people not to take justice into their own hands.
