₹56.81 crore restoration project,1,020-meter ropeway, heritage works, tourist facilities… all of this by October 2,2026 is not small thing ah.
Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao visited site on June 22, 2026 and inspected ongoing works . During visit,he clearly raised concern over delays in project execution and pushed officials to work round-the-clock so deadline can be met .
And see, this is where public will also start watching closely . Because big tourism projects usually look very beautiful in announcements, but actual execution decides whether place becomes better or just another half-done spot.
Ropeway itself is major part of plan . It is designed as 1,020-meter ropeway using monocable jig-back technology and expected to carry between 250 and 300 visitors per hour . That can really change access to Bhongir Fort, especially for families, elderly visitors and tourists who may not be able to climb comfortably .
Few main things planned in this project:
- Ropeway installation to improve visitor access and overall experience.
- Heritage restoration to preserve historical significance of Bhongir Fort.
- Tourist amenities development including hotel, parking area, restrooms and children’s play zone.
But tbh,I hope heritage side does not get pushed behind modern facilities . Forts have their own character, and if everything becomes too commercial,it can start feeling like theme park instead of historical place.
Project has been named ‘Bhongir Fort Experiential Zone’ . Apart from ropeway, plans include cafeteria, interpretation center and other recreational facilities to attract tourists . Lower station is expected to get hotel, parking area, restrooms and children’s play zone, while upper station will focus on restoration efforts and tourist facilities .
Ropeway alone has estimated cost of ₹17.91 crore, while remaining funds are meant for restoring heritage structures and building extra infrastructure . This whole initiative is also part of Centre’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0,which focuses on promoting heritage tourism while protecting historical sites.
And if this works properly,Bhongir Fort can definitely see more tourist footfall . But question is simple only… can officials finish quality work by October 2, 2026 without rushing heritage restoration…
