This Bengaluru traffic police drive has thrown up some pretty worrying numbers, and honestly,669 drunk driving cases in just one enforcement drive is not small thing ah . Between June 15 and 21,2026,police checked 43,057 vehicles and still found this many people driving after alcohol.
And at same time,46 speeding cases were also recorded during same campaign . So it was not just about drunk driving, but also those usual high-speed risks we keep seeing on city roads.
What stands out is scale of operation . Officials from all 53 traffic police stations took part, which means this was not some small random checking drive on one road . This was proper city-wide push against two very dangerous habits: alcohol consumption and excessive speed.
Few numbers make picture very clear:
- 669 drunk driving cases were registered during drive.
- 46 cases of speeding were recorded.
- 43,057 vehicles were checked across various categories.
And ₹46,000 was collected in fines from motorists caught violating speed limits . Now fine amount is one thing, but bigger issue is what these numbers say about road behaviour in Bengaluru.
Because let’s be real, drunk driving is not some minor mistake . One person deciding to drive after drinking can put strangers,families,two-wheeler riders, pedestrians, everyone at risk . Same with speeding only,it looks like thrill for few seconds but outcome can be terrible .
Traffic police said this enforcement campaign will continue in upcoming days . That is good, but it also shows how deep problem is rn . If one week of checking gives 669 drunk driving cases, then what happens on normal nights when checking is less?
Bengaluru is already dealing with heavy traffic, long commute stress and impatient driving . Add alcohol and overspeeding into that mix,and roads become even more unpredictable.
And maybe this is what people need to think about seriously now . Are fines and police drives enough,or are motorists still treating road safety like someone else’s problem…
