Honestly, this looks like one more case where employees feel they have pushed papers, waited, attended meetings, and still nothing serious has moved.
The Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department Employees’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) has announced series of protests to raise employee issues and protect their rights . Announcement came from JAC conveners Y. Srinivasa Rao and Palisetti Damodara Rao on June 21,after meeting where agitation plans were discussed .
And this was not sudden overnight decision also . JAC had already submitted representations on June 11 to officials including Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Chief Secretary Sai Prasad, putting forward their demands and concerns.
Before launching protest,JAC also conducted conferences across state from June 16 to June 20 . These meetings happened in places like Vizianagaram,Vijayawada,Nellore,Tirupati, and Anantapur . As per committee, employee participation was very strong, and that itself says mood inside department is not casual rn.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Protests are set to begin on June 23 and June 24 over employee grievances and rights.
- State-level meeting is planned on June 28 to decide further actions and strategies.
- Preparatory conferences from June 16 to June 20 saw overwhelming participation across state.
And honestly, when employees from different cities come together like this,it usually means frustration has been building for long time . Public transport staff are not some invisible background workers ah,they are people keeping buses and daily movement running.
JAC has now asked all RTC employees to join movement and show solidarity . They have also appealed to all unions and associations inside RTC to work together instead of staying divided during agitation.
Leadership side,co-conveners P.V. Ramana Reddy,G.V. Narasayya, and others are saying they are ready to work collectively with any organization supporting their cause . That unity part will matter because divided protest usually loses steam very fast .
But at same time, government response will decide how big this becomes . If demands are heard early, maybe things stay controlled . If not, this could turn into longer pressure campaign from APSRTC employees…
And question is,whether this unity will actually force action,or again employees will be asked to wait more…
