All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) made this announcement on June 22, 2026,after meeting of its executive committee . Board spokesperson S.Q.R. Ilyas said Muslim community is facing serious pressure, especially in states governed by BJP,where cases of mob violence and targeted demolitions of Muslim properties are being raised again and again.
And honestly, this is where issue becomes more sensitive .
During meeting,AIMPLB expressed concern over rise in mob violence, especially lynching incidents against Muslims . Ilyas also spoke about government actions like demolition drives against mosques and madrasas, saying these things have affected lives and dignity of community very badly.
Board also objected to attempts to make singing of Vande Mataram mandatory in schools and government functions . Their point is that such compulsion goes against Article 25 of Indian Constitution, and this debate is already emotionally charged in many places.
Few key things AIMPLB is now focusing on:
- AIMPLB will publish document on conditions and issues faced by Muslim community .
- Board will give legal support for Kamal Maula Mosque after controversial court ruling .
- Nationwide movement is planned to begin by end of July against community marginalization.
What stood out to me is that AIMPLB also said these problems have not been properly addressed by any political party, including Congress . That line matters, because it shows board is not presenting this as one-party complaint only, but as wider political silence around Muslim concerns.
The board has also welcomed recent stay order from Calcutta High Court against mandatory singing of Vande Mataram in madrasas . For AIMPLB,this seems like one positive sign in larger fight over religious rights and public pressure.
At same time,AIMPLB is worried about push for Uniform Civil Code in different states . Their fear is that such moves may further marginalize Muslim community instead of creating fairness, especially if community concerns are ignored .
And now they are saying they will work with like-minded people and organizations for justice and equality for Muslims in India . But how this movement actually shapes up on ground, and how governments respond to it… that part is still hanging.
