Okay, this is actually some cool news . Adithya Menon, that talented actor,is going to be the voice for Skeletor in `He-Man and the Masters of the Universe`. And not just in one language, but in Tamil,Telugu, and Malayalam.
The film is set for release in India on June 5 . For anyone who grew up watching He-Man,this is pure nostalgia trip. Menon himself said voicing Skeletor has been exhilarating experience .
And he's not wrong ah,Skeletor is such a legendary character. Menon even said,"Skeletor is one of the most iconic villains ever created. He is charismatic, dangerous, unpredictable, and unforgettable." That pretty much sums him up perfectly.
But one interesting point he made was that Skeletor was like one of the earliest pan-Indian villains . Everyone knew him,no matter what language you spoke. That must have made doing the voice work even more special for Menon.
And tbh, giving a distinct personality in three different languages is not easy job.
Few things that stood out for me from his comments:
- Distinct personality in each language — Menon aimed to give Skeletor unique traits in Tamil,Telugu, and Malayalam.
- Collaboration with Jared Leto — He praised Leto's original portrayal, which inspired his regional adaptations .
- Creative freedom — Menon enjoyed exploring different shades of the character, enhancing the overall performance.
He also talked about the two sides of Skeletor's personality . He said,"What makes Skeletor so fascinating is the contrast within his personality. He is menacing and powerful, yet carries this wonderfully nonchalant and almost theatrical energy." This complexity is probably what makes the character so fun to watch, and I guess to voice also.
The movie itself has some big names attached . It's directed by Travis Knight and backed by Amazon MGM Studios, with Nicholas Galitzine playing Prince Adam and Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms .
Menon wrapped up by saying, "Playing Skeletor has truly been an absolute joyride for me." You can feel his excitement. He's hoping fans enjoy regional versions as much as he enjoyed making them.
And now I'm really curious to hear how he sounds . Will the Tamil Skeletor feel different from the Malayalam one… that's the big question now…
