Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken swift action following two tragic road accidents in Uttar Pradesh that claimed the lives of ten individuals, leaving many others injured. On May 26, the CM expressed his deep sorrow over the fatalities and immediately directed officials to provide necessary support to the affected families. He emphasized the need for expedited relief and rescue operations, ensuring that those injured receive proper medical treatment.
In the first incident, a passenger bus traveling from Delhi to Bihar lost control and overturned in Unnao, resulting in six fatalities and multiple injuries. The accident occurred at approximately 5:30 AM within the jurisdiction of the Auras Police Station. Reports indicate that over 30 passengers were aboard the bus, and several were critically injured, necessitating transfer to the Lucknow Trauma Centre for advanced care.
- Immediate medical attention provided — Officials ensured that the injured received prompt treatment at local hospitals.
- Compensation for families — The government has committed to compensating families of the deceased.
- Investigation into causes — Preliminary findings suggest the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
In a separate but equally devastating accident, four pilgrims lost their lives when their car collided with a trailer on the Sultanpur-Lucknow Expressway. This incident occurred around 2:00 AM near Bhikhra village in the Haidergarh Police Station area. The collision left the car severely damaged, and the injured were transported to the Community Health Centre before being referred to the KGMU Trauma Centre.
The Chief Minister’s commitment to providing aid and ensuring safety measures are put into place has garnered positive responses from the community. Residents have expressed hope that these incidents will prompt more robust road safety initiatives to prevent future tragedies. The call for improved infrastructure and driver awareness programs has become increasingly urgent as the state continues to grapple with road safety challenges.
