Tejashwi Yadav, Bihar's Leader of the Opposition, has strongly criticized the NDA government led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary for its police actions against candidates protesting for the TRE-4 teacher recruitment drive. On May 21, Yadav took to social media to express his outrage, accusing the government of betraying the youth of Bihar and unjustly treating job aspirants who are merely reminding the administration of its pre-election promise to provide 10 million jobs.
The protests, which have gained momentum in Patna, are centered around demands for the immediate release of the TRE-4 notification and the conduct of the examination. Yadav questioned how protesting for such essential recruitment could be deemed a crime, stating, “How can demanding TRE-4 recruitment become a crime? How can protesting against paper leaks be considered an offense?” He condemned the repeated police lathi-charges on students and aspirants as unacceptable.
- Criticism of police actions — Yadav condemns the use of force against peaceful protesters.
- Demand for job recruitment transparency — He emphasizes the need for the TRE-4 notification release.
- Highlighting previous recruitment successes — Yadav references successful recruitment during the Mahagathbandhan government.
Yadav further stated that if the government intends to use police resources effectively, it should focus on curbing crime and corruption rather than targeting unemployed youth. He criticized the NDA government for lacking a genuine intention to proceed with the TRE-4 recruitment process, citing the absence of any official notifications despite several political changes in the state.
In contrast, Yadav highlighted the achievements of the previous Mahagathbandhan government, which successfully recruited over 200,000 teachers through TRE-1 and TRE-2 without any incidents of paper leaks. He pointed out that the current administration, which has seen changes in leadership, has failed to release the TRE-4 notification, leading to growing frustration among job seekers. Yadav concluded by asserting that the youth of Bihar will remember this perceived betrayal by the government as they continue their fight for employment opportunities.
