Finally, some good news for parents in Tamil Nadu . Directorate of Private Schools has issued an order that is honestly, long overdue .
Basically, all private schools in state have to publicly display their approved tuition fee structures by June 5 . This applies to everyone from nursery and primary to matriculation and even CBSE schools .
And this isn't just some random new rule ah . It's coming after a ruling from the Tamil Nadu Information Commission which said that school fee structures are actually public information. So parents have every right to see this stuff clearly .
So now,the Directorate has told all private school managements to put up the approved fee details on their notice boards and official websites . They even have to include it in student admission application forms. This is proper transparency from the beginning only.
And tbh, this is where things get serious for schools.
The government is not just giving orders and forgetting about it . They have set up a whole system to check if schools are following the rules.
- Schools have to display all approved fees publicly by the June 5 deadline.
- District Educational Officers are going to do inspections to verify everything.
- Schools need to provide photographic evidence to prove they've displayed the fees.
District Educational Officers for Private Schools have been told to inspect schools in their areas and then submit reports by June 10 . This way Directorate can keep track of who is following the order and who is not.
The Director of Private Schools,S . Suganya, has also made it very clear that schools failing to do this will face government action . So it seems they are quite serious this time.
This whole thing is supposed to solve the constant complaints from parents about unclear fees and hidden charges . It's meant to make schools more accountable.
But real question is,will schools follow this in spirit? Or will we still see a hundred different "miscellaneous" charges added on later… that's what everyone is wondering now .
