With 2030 Commonwealth Games coming up,India clearly does not want old paperwork-style federation mess slowing athletes down .
MYAS is now planning to deploy dedicated IT consultants for National Sports Federations (NSFs) . Main idea is simple only, make digital systems stronger so athlete management and competition planning do not keep getting stuck in delays.
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has also highlighted why this matters, especially for better coordination and performance monitoring across sports bodies . And tbh, that part is not small thing ah because many Indian sports issues are not always about talent, sometimes it is management and timing.
This whole plan comes under National Sports Digital Ecosystem (NSDE),which is supposed to bring different digital systems for NSFs together . If it works properly, athlete data, competition preparedness and real-time communication between athletes and governing bodies can become much smoother.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Dedicated NSF IT consultants will assist in operationalizing digital systems .
- Improved athlete management aims to streamline nominations and approvals.
- Enhanced competition planning ensures timely processing of schedules and results.
And this is also connected to bigger ambition. India wants historic medal tally on home soil during 2030 Commonwealth Games, and long-term Olympic aspirations are also sitting in background . For that, digital confusion inside federations cannot continue forever.
MYAS and Sports Authority of India (SAI) have already taken some steps in recent years . Platforms like Annual Renewal portal and National Sports Repository System (NSRS) have changed how federations handle work, but adding IT consultants could push things further toward efficiency and transparency.
But at same time, technology alone cannot fix everything . Systems can be built, portals can be launched, consultants can be appointed, but actual change depends on whether federations use these tools seriously and keep athlete first .
The Government is linking this to Viksit Bharat and more effective sports environment, which sounds good on paper . Real question is whether athletes will actually feel difference when selections, nominations, approvals, schedules and results are being handled under pressure…
