Shiv Sena (UBT) has come out really strongly against Mahayuti government over something that has been bothering lot of people in Maharashtra politics for while now — defections . And honestly,the way their party publication Saamana put it,this is not just normal political commentary anymore.
The editorial,which came from Uddhav Thackeray's party,made pretty direct argument that ruling establishments at both Centre and state level are actively encouraging these defections . That is serious accusation to make in print.
According to Saamana editorial,what is happening right now is not just political maneuvering . It is being described as troubling trend that reflects much deeper problem in how Maharashtra is being governed at all.
Shiv Sena (UBT) is essentially saying three things clearly here:
- Increasing number of defections erodes public trust in elected representatives directly.

Editorial is also being read as rallying call of sorts . Party wants political leaders across board to reflect on what their defection decisions actually cost,not in terms of seats or numbers,but in terms of public faith .
Honestly,there is something uncomfortable about watching political parties accuse others of opportunism in Maharashtra specifically . Because this entire state has seen so many switches and splits in last few years that ordinary people have genuinely lost track of who originally belonged where .
Thackeray's party may have very valid point about integrity and democratic values . But whether voters are paying close attention to editorial in Saamana,or whether they have already made peace with idea that political defections are just permanent feature of Maharashtra politics now…that question does not have easy answer right now.
And maybe that uncertainty itself is exactly what Shiv Sena (UBT) is most worried about.
