So the heavy rain warnings are out again for Tamil Nadu,and honestly,it feels like this is becoming serious problem rn. IMD has raised alarms for 16 districts this week .
They are saying Wednesday and Thursday will be particularly bad . Areas like Coimbatore,Tiruppur,and Dindigul are likely to get very heavy downpours,which means more flooding and disruptions to normal life.
And this is on top of the rains that have already caused so much chaos . We are already seeing reports of power outages,damage to property,and even people getting injured.
The situation in Namakkal district sounds especially bad ah. Rainwater has apparently flooded the government hospital premises in Rasipuram . Just imagine,patients having to walk through knee-deep water inside a hospital. Business activities around new bus stand market are also badly hit .
And it’s not just rain . Hailstorms were also recorded in Tirupattur. In Tiruvannamalai,heavy rains went on for over three hours,cutting power and stopping all normal activity . There was also that scary incident where a tamarind tree fell on a moving mini-bus in Melnagar,injuring multiple passengers.
Few key things to know about current situation:
- Severe flooding reported — Waterlogging has been widespread,affecting transportation and daily life.
- Power outages across districts — Areas such as Madurai and Tiruvannamalai are experiencing significant power disruptions .
- Monsoon onset anticipated — Conditions are favorable for southwest monsoon to make its presence felt in Kerala.
And tbh,that last point is the most worrying one.
The IMD is also saying Chennai might get moderate rain and thunderstorms in coming days . So it's not limited to just few districts .
This is the scary part . combination of this heavy rainfall and start of the actual monsoon could make things much,much worse in all these places .
Local authorities are being asked to prepare,but how much can you really prepare for this kind of weather . It feels like this is just beginning of a very long and difficult season…
